Why Wattmare exists

When a main engine cylinder liner cracks at sea, or an auxiliary generator's turbocharger fails on a fixed-route container vessel, the cost of waiting is measured in tens of thousands of dollars per day. Chief engineers and fleet superintendents don't need another marketing brochure — they need parts on the ground at the next port, fast.

That's the entire reason Wattmare exists. We sit adjacent to Alang ship recycling yard in Bhavnagar, where 400+ marine vessels arrive each year carrying authentic OEM components from Wartsila, MAN B&W, ABB, Caterpillar, Daihatsu, MaK, Sulzer, Alfa Laval, and every other major marine OEM.

The Alang advantage

Alang is no ordinary location. It's the world's largest ship recycling yard — 10 km of beachfront where the world's commercial fleet comes to retire. Every year, 400+ vessels carrying authentic OEM marine engine components arrive at Alang for dismantling. That's roughly one vessel every 22 hours, each one a moving inventory of cylinder liners, piston crowns, fuel pumps, turbocharger cartridges, and every other marine engine component you can name.

Most marine parts suppliers operate at one or two steps' remove from this source. They buy from traders, who buy from yards. We work directly with Alang yard operators. That's the difference between getting a Wartsila RTA72 cylinder liner in 48 hours versus 4 weeks — and between paying near-OEM prices versus 30-50% less.

What we ship

Genuine OEM parts — sourced from OEM-authorized distributor networks (Japanese, Korean, European), in original packaging with manufacturer documentation. For class-critical applications.

Reconditioned parts — components removed from end-of-life vessels at Alang, cleaned, dimensionally inspected against OEM tolerances, pressure-tested where applicable, and supplied with inspection reports. Typically 40-60% the cost of new — useful for legacy engines where OEM production has ended.

Approved aftermarket parts — for cost-sensitive applications where class certification isn't required. Sourced from approved Indian/Chinese manufacturers, dimensionally verified against OEM specs.

2. We confirm availability — within 2 hours we tell you what we have in stock vs. what we can source from Alang within 24-48 hours.
3. Quote with class certification options — if your application needs Lloyd's, DNV, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, or KR survey, we arrange it before dispatch.
4. Dispatch within 24-48 hours — air-freight to your next port of call. We work with established freight forwarders to UAE, Singapore, Greece, Turkey, Norway, Philippines, Japan, Korea, and major European hubs.
