THE KNOWLEDGE DESK
A centrifugal separator spins fuel or lube oil at high speed inside a bowl packed with conical discs. Density differences throw water and solids outward while clean oil moves inward and upward. The condition of the disc stack, the gravity disc selection and the seals determine whether the oil leaving the purifier actually meets engine inlet specification — which is why these are the parts that matter most for your main engine and auxiliary engine.

A purifier removes both water and solids and uses a gravity disc to set the interface; a clarifier removes solids only and runs without a gravity disc. Many vessels run two units in series — purifier then clarifier — sharing common disc stacks and seal kits. We supply parts for both configurations.
The gravity disc bore must suit the oil density and the operating temperature. Too large a bore and water breaks through to the clean side; too small and oil is lost to the sludge space. We supply full bore-size ranges so you can dial in separation as fuel grades change.

Genuine parts carry the original maker's marking. OEM-equivalent parts are manufactured to the same dimensions and materials at lower cost. Reconditioned bowl assemblies and spindles recovered from Alang are the practical answer for obsolete models the maker no longer lists.

The most common causes are a gravity disc bore that is too large for the oil density, a worn or extruded main seal ring, or an incorrectly assembled bowl. Reselect the gravity disc and renew the seals at overhaul.

Reconditioned bowl assemblies and spindles are cleaned, dimensionally checked, crack-tested and balanced where applicable before dispatch. For obsolete models they are often the most practical and fastest route to getting a unit back in service.
